The Friends of Main Street Board of Directors would like to announce that Ms. Lauren DiMauro has been selected as the new Executive Director for Friends of Main Street.
Lauren is a 6th generation Winstedian; she loves the town and is dedicated to seeing Winsted thrive. She has extensive knowledge of the town’s history, and a long family and personal tradition of owning businesses in town. (Her first “job” as a young girl was working for her Aunt Rose at the Rose Sullivan Shoppe!)
Lauren has formerly been active as a PTO member at her children’s schools, and served as Chair of the Fresh Air Fund of NYC, where she recruited and vetted foster families for inner-city children who were able to spend summers in suburban CT as a result of her efforts. Lauren has also served in a supervisory position at the Wheeler Group, a Pitney Bowes Company, and was the office manager of The Winsted Journal for 12 years. She and her husband, Santo DiMauro, have also owned and operated a number of businesses in town, including two Car Phone Stores, and John’s Import Deli, which is now owned and operated by her brother-in-law.
Lauren’s knowledge of the town is both intimate and extensive. We think Lauren will be an excellent asset to our Board who will bring us to new, creative endeavors to support local businesses, beautify the town, and attract new business. If you have a chance, please stop into the Friends of Main Street office to say hello to Lauren.
We would also like to bid a fond farewell to a former board member, Mr. Dick Labich, who has moved out of state, and especially to Ms. Helen Ruwet Bunnell, who was the Executive Director of Friends of Main Street for the last 9 years. Helen has moved on to a new position, but will continue to support the board when she can. We wish Dick and Helen all the best.
